- FAQs About Ramzan Umrah Packages
Every year, thousands of pilgrims from Pakistan choose to perform Umrah in Ramzan, when the Haram is full for Taraweeh, the city fasts together, and the last ten nights bring the search for Laylat al-Qadr. It is also the most demanding time to travel, with the highest prices, the biggest crowds and the earliest booking deadlines of the year. This guide explains how a Ramzan Umrah package works, what decides its price, which part of the month to choose, and how to plan so the trip goes smoothly. For current packages and prices, see our Ramzan Umrah package page.
Why Umrah in Ramzan Carries a Special Reward
The Prophet ﷺ told a woman from the Ansar who had missed Hajj that an Umrah performed in Ramadan equals Hajj in reward, a hadith recorded in Sahih al-Bukhari and Sahih Muslim. Scholars explain that this refers to the reward, and that it does not replace the obligation of Hajj for those who are able. Add to this the nights of Taraweeh behind the imams of the Haram, iftar in the courtyard of the mosque, and the chance of Laylat al-Qadr in the odd nights of the last ten, and it is easy to see why Ramzan is the most requested season for Umrah from Pakistan.
What a Ramzan Umrah Package Includes
A standard Ramzan Umrah package from Pakistan includes a return flight, the Umrah visa with Nusuk permit, hotel nights in Makkah and Madinah, and transport from the airport to your hotel and between the two cities. Meals are usually not included, since most pilgrims break their fast at the Haram, where dates, water and Zamzam are shared at iftar every evening. Ziyarat, Haramain train tickets and suhoor arrangements can be added. Before you pay, check that your quote names the hotels, states the number of nights in each city, and shows your flight times in writing.
Ramzan Umrah Package Price: What Decides the Cost
The Ramzan Umrah package price is higher than at any other time of year, because hotels in Makkah and Madinah raise their rates for the whole month and airlines fill their seats early. Four things decide how much your package will cost.
Which Ten Days You Travel
Ramzan is divided into three ashras of about ten days each. The first ten days are the quietest and usually the most affordable. The middle ten days are busier. The last ten nights, when pilgrims seek Laylat al-Qadr, are the most crowded and the most expensive, and hotels near the Haram are often fully booked months in advance.
| Part of Ramzan | Crowds | Price Level | Best For |
|---|---|---|---|
| First ten days | Moderate | Lowest in Ramzan | First-time pilgrims, elderly parents, families on a budget |
| Middle ten days | Busy | Higher | Pilgrims who want a balance of crowds and cost |
| Last ten nights | Very heavy | Highest of the year | Pilgrims seeking Laylat al-Qadr and I'tikaf |
Hotel Distance from the Haram
In Ramzan, the gap between a hotel beside the Haram and one with a shuttle is wider than usual. Roads around the Haram close before Maghrib and Isha, so shuttle buses stop well short of the mosque and pilgrims walk the rest. If walking is hard for you or your parents, a closer hotel is worth the extra cost in this month more than any other.
Your Departure City and Flight
Fares from Karachi, Lahore and Islamabad rise sharply for the last ten nights and the days before Eid. Non-stop flights sell out first, and connecting flights through the Gulf are often the only seats left close to the date. Booking early is the surest way to keep the flight cost down.
Room Sharing
A quad room shared by four pilgrims costs much less per person than a double. Families and friends travelling together can bring the Ramzan Umrah package price down considerably by sharing, especially for the last ten nights.
Umrah Package Ramzan Durations: 7, 10, 15 or 21 Days
The right length depends on your leave, your budget and which part of the month matters most to you. A 7 days package fits a single week of leave and works best in the first or middle ten days, when hotels are easier to find. A 10 days package can be timed to cover exactly the last ten nights. A 15 days package covers half the month, either the quieter first half or the second half with the last ten nights. A 21 days package lets you arrive in the middle of the month, spend the last ten nights in the Haram and stay for Eid ul Fitr.
Nusuk Rules for Umrah in Ramzan
Saudi Arabia manages Umrah in Ramzan through the Nusuk app, and the rules for this month are stricter than the rest of the year. Your package covers the main permit, but it helps to know how the system works before you travel.
One Umrah Permit per Pilgrim
During Ramzan, Nusuk issues one Umrah permit per pilgrim to manage the crowds. If you plan to perform Umrah on behalf of a parent as well, discuss it with your agent before you travel, as it may not be possible in this month.
Rawdah Visits in Madinah
Praying in the Rawdah at Masjid an-Nabawi needs a separate time slot booked on Nusuk. Slots in Ramzan go quickly, so try for one as soon as you arrive in Madinah and keep checking for openings during your stay.
I'tikaf in the Haram
Sitting in I'tikaf in Masjid al-Haram or Masjid an-Nabawi during the last ten days needs prior registration with the mosque authorities, and places are limited. If I'tikaf is your aim, plan it from the start and choose a hotel close to the mosque for the days before and after.
When to Book Your Ramzan Umrah Package
Most Ramzan package Umrah bookings from Pakistan are made four to six months before the month begins. For the last ten nights, hotels near the Haram and non-stop flights often sell out even earlier, so pilgrims who want those dates should start planning straight after the previous Ramzan or as soon as the Umrah season reopens after Hajj. Ramzan moves about eleven days earlier each year, so check the expected start date on our Ramadan Umrah page and allow a few weeks before your flight for the visa. You can read about processing times on our Umrah visa page.
Fasting and Umrah: How to Plan Your Days
Many pilgrims perform their Umrah at night, after Taraweeh, when the air is cooler and they are no longer fasting. If you land during the day, rest at your hotel, break your fast, and perform Umrah in the evening rather than doing Tawaf and Sa'i on an empty stomach in the afternoon heat. Eat a proper suhoor, drink plenty of Zamzam between iftar and Fajr, and sleep after Fajr or Dhuhr to make up for the late nights. A traveller is allowed not to fast while travelling and make up the days later, but most pilgrims prefer to keep their fasts once they have settled in.
Ramzan Umrah for Families, Women and Elderly Pilgrims
Ramzan crowds are hardest on young children and older pilgrims, so families often choose the first ten days and a hotel within walking distance of the Haram. Women aged 18 and above can perform Umrah without a mahram, as long as they travel with an organised group or a licensed agent. For elderly parents, starting in Madinah, where the pace is calmer, and booking a wheelchair or electric cart for Tawaf and Sa'i in Makkah make the trip far easier. Plan to reach the mosque early for each prayer, as the doors and courtyards fill well before the adhan in Ramzan.

FAQs About Ramzan Umrah Packages
How much does a Ramzan Umrah package cost from Pakistan?
The price depends on which ten days you travel, your hotel's distance from the Haram, your departure city and room sharing. The first ten days cost the least and the last ten nights the most. See our Ramadan Umrah packages for current prices.
Is Umrah in Ramzan equal to Hajj?
In reward, yes, according to a hadith in Sahih al-Bukhari and Sahih Muslim. It does not replace the obligation of Hajj for those who are able to perform it.
Can I perform more than one Umrah in Ramzan?
Nusuk issues one Umrah permit per pilgrim during Ramzan, so most pilgrims perform a single Umrah in this month.
Which part of Ramzan is best for Umrah?
The first ten days are quieter and more affordable. The last ten nights carry the hope of Laylat al-Qadr but are the most crowded and expensive. Choose based on your budget and how well you handle crowds.
How early should I book a Ramzan Umrah package?
Four to six months ahead for most dates, and earlier for the last ten nights, when hotels near the Haram and non-stop flights sell out first.
Should I keep my fast while performing Umrah in Ramzan?
A traveller may skip fasting and make up the days later. Many pilgrims perform Umrah at night after iftar, then keep their fasts once they have rested.
