Umrah Visa from Pakistan in 2027
Table of Contents
Performing Umrah for the first time can feel overwhelming. Which documents do you need? Who applies for the visa? When should you book your flights and hotels? This guide answers every one of these questions in order, so a first-time pilgrim from Pakistan knows exactly what to do, from checking your passport to boarding your flight.
The short answer is simple: Pakistani pilgrims don't apply for the Umrah visa themselves. A licensed Umrah operator applies for you, together with your hotel and transport booking. Your job is to have the right documents ready, complete your vaccinations, and book early enough to get good hotels and fares. The steps below show you how.
Who Can Apply for an Umrah Visa from Pakistan
Any Muslim with a valid Pakistani passport can apply for an Umrah visa, including women and children. Saudi rules no longer require women to travel with a mahram, so women can perform Umrah with family, with a group, or on their own. Children travel on their own passport and visa, and need the same vaccinations as adults. There is no limit on how many times you can perform Umrah. You can get an Umrah visa more than once in the same year, as long as each trip falls within the Umrah season. Before you start, make sure you are not on any travel restriction list in Pakistan, as this would stop you at the airport even with a valid visa.
Step 1: Check Your Passport and CNIC
Your passport must be valid for at least six months from the date you enter Saudi Arabia, and it should have at least two blank pages. If your passport expires sooner, or you don't have one yet, apply for a new one before you book anything, because a new passport can take several weeks. You will also need your valid CNIC, as Pakistani operators ask for a copy with every application. Make sure the name and details on your CNIC and passport match exactly; a small spelling difference can delay your visa.
Step 2: Complete Your Vaccinations
Saudi Arabia requires every Umrah pilgrim to have the meningitis (ACYW) vaccine, taken at least ten days before you arrive. Travellers from Pakistan must also have proof of polio vaccination. Since 14 September 2026, pilgrims flying from Karachi to Saudi Arabia must carry digital vaccination proof linked to NADRA, or they won't be allowed to board. The same rule is expected to extend to Lahore, Islamabad, and Peshawar, so get vaccinated at an authorised centre and keep your digital record ready, whichever airport you fly from.
Step 3: Choose a Licensed Umrah Operator
This is the most important step. Pakistani passport holders cannot apply for an Umrah visa directly on Saudi Arabia's Nusuk platform. Every application must go through an Umrah operator attested by Pakistan's Ministry of Religious Affairs and Interfaith Harmony, working with an approved Saudi service provider. Before you pay any agent, check that they are licensed. A licensed operator can book your hotel and transport through the Saudi system, which is required before your visa can be issued. GoTravel.pk is a DTS-licensed travel company (License 11128), and our team handles the full process for you.
Step 4: Decide Your Travel Dates and Book in Advance
Choose when you want to travel and for how long. Your dates affect everything: hotel availability, airfares and the price of your package. Ramadan, the December school holidays and the last ten nights of Ramadan are the busiest and most expensive times, while October and November are usually the quietest and cheapest. Booking in advance is the single best way to save money and stress. Hotels near the Haram fill up first, and fares rise as your travel date gets closer. If you book late, you may have to stay further away and rely on shuttle buses for every prayer. For Ramadan 2027, which is expected to begin around 8 February, we recommend booking by November 2026.
Step 5: Choose Your Package, Hotels and Flights
Most pilgrims book a complete package, because it includes everything the visa requires. A typical package covers return flights, the Umrah visa, hotels in Makkah and Madinah, airport transfers, and travel between the two cities.
Choosing Your Hotels
The biggest difference between packages is how close your hotel is to the Haram. Economy hotels are usually 700m to 1.5km away, often with a free shuttle, while VIP hotels sit on or beside the Haram boundary. If you are travelling with elderly parents or young children, a hotel within walking distance is worth the extra cost.
Choosing Room Sharing
Quad sharing, with four people in a room, is the cheapest option. A double room costs around 30 to 40 percent more. Families often choose a room for their own group so they can stay together.
Choosing Your Flights
Direct flights run from Karachi, Lahore, and Islamabad to Jeddah, and some routes also fly direct to Madinah. Direct flights save time and are easier with family; connecting flights through the Gulf can be cheaper but take longer. Check the baggage allowance, especially on low-cost airlines, if you plan to bring Zamzam water home.
Step 6: Submit Your Documents and Make Payment
Once you have chosen your package, give your operator your documents: passport, CNIC copy, recent photographs, and vaccination proof. Your operator then books your hotel and transport through the Saudi system and prepares your visa application. Always ask for a written, itemised quotation before you pay. It should show your flights, hotels, visa, and transport clearly, along with the total price. Once you approve the quote and complete payment, your package price is fixed.
Step 7: Receive Your Umrah Visa
After your documents and bookings are confirmed, the Umrah visa is issued electronically, usually within three to five working days. You will receive it as a digital copy, so print it and keep it with your passport. Remember the 30-day rule: you must enter Saudi Arabia within 30 days of your visa being issued. Once you arrive, you can stay for up to 90 days, within the season's deadline, and extensions are not possible. This is why your operator should only apply once your travel dates are fixed.
Learn the Steps of Umrah
Umrah has four main parts: entering Ihram with the intention, Tawaf around the Kaaba, Sa'i between Safa and Marwah, and Halq or Taqsir to finish. Read our guide on how to perform Umrah before you travel, so you feel confident on the day.
Ihram Before Your Flight
If you are going to Makkah first, put on Ihram before boarding, because your flight crosses the Miqat before landing in Jeddah. The crew usually announces when you are approaching it so you can make your intention. If you are flying to Madinah first, you can travel in normal clothes and enter Ihram later.
Download the Nusuk App
The Nusuk app is Saudi Arabia's official pilgrim app. You will need it to book a permit for the Rawdah at Masjid an-Nabawi in Madinah, which has separate times for men and women.
Carry Some Extra Money
Your package covers the main costs, but carry some Saudi Riyals for meals, local travel and shopping. If meals are not included, budget around Rs 1,500 to 3,000 per person per day for food. Exchange money at an authorised exchange company in Pakistan, and keep a debit or credit card as a backup.
At the Airport
Arrive at least three hours before your flight, with your passport, printed visa, ticket, and vaccination proof together in one place.

Umrah Visa Fee and What You Actually Pay
The official Saudi Umrah visa fee is SAR 300. Because Pakistani pilgrims must apply through a licensed operator with a hotel and transport booking, the visa is usually included in your package price, along with the required insurance and processing. When comparing operators, look at the total package price and what it includes, not just the visa fee.
How Far in Advance Should You Book?
| When you want to travel | When to book |
|---|---|
| October to November | 4 to 6 weeks ahead |
| December school holidays | 2 to 3 months ahead |
| Ramadan 2027 | By November 2026 |
| Last ten nights of Ramadan | As early as possible; hotels near the Haram sell out first |
Your visa itself is applied for closer to your travel date, within the 30-day window, but your hotels and flights should be secured as early as possible. See our Ramadan Umrah packages if you are planning for Ramadan 2027.
Common Mistakes First-Time Pilgrims Make
Paying an Unlicensed Agent
Only a licensed operator can process your Umrah visa. Paying an unlicensed agent risks your money and your trip.
Leaving Vaccinations Too Late
The meningitis vaccine must be taken at least ten days before arrival. Leaving it to the last week can delay your travel.
Applying for the Visa Too Early
Your visa must be used within 30 days. If it is issued too early and your plans change, it may expire before you fly.
Booking Ramadan Late
Waiting until January for Ramadan often means higher prices and hotels far from the Haram.
Not Asking for a Written Quote
A verbal price can change. A written, itemised quote protects you and shows exactly what you are paying for.
