In a major step to enhance connectivity, Uzbekistan’s Ambassador to Pakistan, Alisher Tukhtayev, has announced that direct flights between Lahore and Tashkent are set to begin next month. Ambassador Tukhtayev made the announcement during a meeting with Senator Irfanul Haque Siddiqui, Chairman of the Senate Standing Committee on Foreign Affairs, held in Islamabad.
This new route aims to strengthen bilateral ties by facilitating trade, tourism, and cultural exchange between the two countries. Ambassador Tukhtayev noted that there are also plans to expand air connectivity to other major cities in Pakistan.
Senator Siddiqui welcomed the ambassador’s efforts, highlighting that the direct flights would open up significant opportunities for collaboration in both economic and cultural sectors. “Enhanced connectivity will enable both nations to leverage the vast potential for cooperation,” he remarked.
Senator Siddiqui also expressed optimism that Ambassador Tukhtayev’s tenure would contribute to the growth of bilateral relations. In addition, the ambassador invited Senator Siddiqui and a Pakistani parliamentary delegation to observe Uzbekistan’s legislative elections on October 27. Senator Siddiqui accepted the invitation and commended Uzbekistan’s Central Election Commission for promoting democratic cooperation and fostering people-to-people exchanges.
This diplomatic initiative reflects a shared commitment by both nations to deepen their partnership and mutual understanding.
